I have a little ranch in the north/east section of Chicago. We are have problems with our main sewer drain. I had it rooter twice in two months. The second time I wanted it scoped along with the rooter. It was unsuccesful because of toilet paper and muck so the contractor recommended jetting. After the jetting the scope worked much better. What we saw was at every joint of the clay pipes from the stack to the parkway pipes there is an offset any where from 1/4" to over an inch. One section appears to have a crumbled bottom. The recommedation is to remove all the clay pipe and replace with new. The contractor wants 7000.00 to remove concrete in the basement replace all the pipes (5 year guarantee) and replace all the concrete/earth. I will be getting more quotes but does that seem pretty reasonable? The distance from the stack to the city pipes is about 90' with about 40+ feet under the basement.
