Rocket Scientist points out possible causes for your problem. Installation could be the problem. And dark colors DO absorbe more heat and would add to the need to be more mindful during installation.

Let's assume that the install is by the book. Yes, there could be 'defects' in the material. Another option may be to get a thicker material. Talk to Alcoa and get a .044 or higher material. Maybe you only need to pay the DIFFERENCE between what you already paid and the thicker vinyl. Had you known about these problems in advance, you either would have opted NOT to do the project or you would have spent the EXTRA $$$ for the thicker siding. Do be mindful that dark colors will 'radiate' heat into the house more than light colors. So you should talk to the installer about the layer of material that's should be in place just beneath the siding.
