A reinforced rubber hose or the newer nylon hoses last decades. The bulge where it connects is usually because a piece of copper or the insert tee inside the hose, has expanded it out. If it is a bulge on one side then the entire hose should be replaced. If the DW water cannot get out the drain line then you have a clog. It may be partial in that it will take the slower amount of water from a faucet but probably not filling the sink and then letting the bowl drain.
