I read that in order to put up plaster you have to put up a special kind of drywall. I'm really confused. We have a new addition that includes a hallway that is very loud. I want to add plaster to help the acoustics. Will a plaster skim accomplish this, can it go right over the ddrywall, or do I need to make true plaster walls to cut down on noise? My plaster walls in the old part of my house definitely help with noise transmission.
