Maytag neptune mold may be cause of serious health problems Posted by marche99 on November 23rd, 2004 01:30 AM
I have deep concerns as to why maytag is so eager to agree to this settlement and admission of selling a product with serious problems that they knew were there. I bought the washer when it was new to the market and am currently on my third neptune washer, my first was willingly replaced by maytag because it never worked right, my performance service plan helped replace the second one (I had to pay some money for the replacement of that one.) Problem is ever since I have had them they have always been moldy and even straight bleach couldn't clean them. So when I recieved the settlement notice in the mail for two of my three (don't know what happened with the third) I put two and two together and now wonder if they are eager to settle to avoid more serious lawsuits from selling a mold producing product in this day when it is becoming common knowledge that mold can be deadly. I myself have come close to death several times including being on life support in acoma for a month with no clear reason why I got so sick (my doctors said over and over they had never seen anything like it). At the time I was a very healthy 23 year old with basically no health problems. Since then I have had many problems with my health particularly respiratory I have had to have my tonsils and my thymus removed, and my pituatary, thyroid and adrenal glands have stopped working. Over the last year and a half, I have been hospitalized 18 times and nearly didn't make it through 3 of the times.
This alone isn't why I suspect the problem has come from my washer, during 1999 when I first got so sick my husband developed Morphea (a very rare autoimmune disorder causing hardening of the connective tissue) and my son that was 4 and the time came down with Kawasaki Syndrome ( another autoimmune disorder that is again rare.) Researchers don't know the cause of Kawasaki's Syndrome, but strong data suggests that there is water near the child's residence or the carpets in the household have been recently cleaned. Well the only thing in common that I can think of with these is mold. Kawasaki syndrome or mucataneous lymph node syndrome has proven fatal in some children due to aortic anuerysyms.
So when I get these settlement notices I have to wonder if this is yet another but more serious problem that Maytag is trying to avoid by specifically excluding any further legal actions with the specified problems included in the settlement. Have any of you had wierd health problems after you bought your washer????
