Melted Candy on Carpet

I was heating my hot curlers, and apparently there had been an unwrapped hard candy mint under it, and now the mint is stuck to the carpet. We have tried using an ice cube, and also a hair dryer, but nothing seems to be working. What can I do to remove the mint? (My grandmother does not want to cut it out of the carpet, but is that our only choice?)
