We built a new brick home in 1997 -- all the exposed MW Wooden Double Hung Windows have extensive rot on them. Most the entire sill and brick mold has rotted -- some the top and bottom of the sash has rotten. They were properly caulked, painted and installed. When a heavy rainstorm came through the other night, we looked to see how the water was getting in. It's a flaw in the way the MW Windows have placed that plastic strip from the sash over the edge of the window. Water was leaking behing the plastic seal stripping and running straight to the wood sash, sill and brick mold. What a headache -- we bought these windows in good faith hoping that they would surely last longer that 6 years. Any suggestions -- MW claims they do not warranty rot!! We lived in our other house 28 years, with different windows, and they were as solid the day we sold it as they were when we had it built. Please let me know if there are other complaints -- this is such an expensive undertaking!!
