I've seen several posts about issues with wind causing vinyl siding to make a racket that can be heard from the inside of the house. We just bought a house and we've got the same problem...the noise is a loud crackling that keeps us up on windy nights. I cut away a small section of the wall and noted that the siding is mounted against styrofoam fanboard with sound channels behind it, and the walls are insulated...but this sound is so loud that I don't think that traditional wall soundproofing from the interior will be effective.
Has anyone found a proven solution for this? I'm wondering if anyone has determined it to be an issue of seams/sealing, loose tacking, or is the material just to cheap and flimsy?
