We have a central vac in the house we purchased about six years ago but DO NOT use it now.It does an adequate job but lugging the hose from room to room is not a fun thing to do. Further,the cost and quality of floor vacuums has improved enormously in recent years. Even the cheap mobels do a better job than our central system. Too, you will find that parts for the central system i.e. room outlet covers and connections are expensive.If you have a multi level house, floor vacs are now cheap enough to allow you to have one on each floor. Thus, I do not think you will be happy with a central system. Good luck.
