The exact same thing happened to us! We had dark blue playdoh smashed into our light beige carpet. We let it dry overnight and then I got out the vacuum cleaner, some stiff hairbrushes (we don't have a wire brush) and we began picking at the blobs with our fingernails and the brushes while vacuuming with the hose. I was very surprised at how well it came up. I'm glad I didn't make blue mud out of it with water (which was my first impulse).
