peeling up linoleum flooring

peeling off 2-3 layers of linoleim flooring from concrete slab. First is there asbestoes in the old linoleum black tarry substance on floor and know of an easier way to scrap this stuff up off concrete. We are using a rented power scraperbut blades do not seem to last.
