Faulty Roof Repair

Posted by SGilbert on January 11th, 2005 09:24 AM

I had the roof redone 2 years ago by a well known national chain, only now to have a leak around an old chimney. The warranty covers that flashing redo, but the original repair called for replacement of a broken roof strutt...not certain correct term....it was one of the boards extending up to the roof peak. Instead of replacing it, it was inadequately sistered and braced to the next board over....one brace already split. Question is, is sistering done adequately OK for a split and broken roof strutt? Or should it be totally replaced? I need to fight for proper warranty and redo work and need info.
