upstairs loft

I have a two story house with a room upstairs overlooking the living area downstairs. There is a railing. I want to close this with panels, french doors, or some other suggestion. No one will be living in the upstairs level, so we want to save on energy costs. We want something with glass so you can still see. And we want to be able to open it back up. Any suggestions?
