Cut Lead Loose

If it's a brass flange then it's got to be a lead drain pipe. Scratch it. It probably just got discolored. Yes cut the solder between the lead and the flange loose and fold the lead in. I use a wood chisel. Try not to break the lead if you are going to resolder on a deep set brass flange.
It's better to replace all of that lead with plastic now. You melt off the lead solder ball where the lead goes into a brass sleeve. The other end of the sleeve is lead and oakumed into a cast iron fitting. You leve it and install a new 3" plastic drain pipe using a 3" x 4" reducing rubber coupling.
