Woodstove Updraft Problems

Posted by iMargaret on January 19th, 2005 03:40 AM

We had a woodstove installed in our basement. Updraft is a big problem. At first we had back-puffing but corrected that with an additional section of chimney. Trying to start the stove is not easy though, no matter what we try. In fact, in the early days we had both problems (back-puffing and updraft problems). I have been in touch with the Vacu-Stack Cap people and they don't think their product will help our updraft problem being designed for down drafts only, but I would think if air has settled in the vent pipe from outside it should help? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
