Painting Ceramic Tile in the Bathroom

Posted by raylenest on January 19th, 2005 12:22 PM

Hi,
We recently moved and in our master bathroom we have a corner jet tub with ugly ceramic tile (4 rows of 6x6 tile)up the two walls and 1 row around the top edge of the tub.

I know the better thing to do is to have the tile removed and re-do it with tile that I like, but right now we just cannot afford it.

I would like to paint over the tile. Can it be done? I assume I would have to use a primer over the tile first, but what am I to look for in the primer?

The bathroom is quite big and not a high traffic area. I do not use the tub that often (winter only) as there is also a stand-up neo-angle shower in the room.

Any help would be great!!
