Vinyl pool patch came loose!

Do the underwater patches not take to colder water? I patched my in ground vinyl in the summer and the patch has decided to come loose. It's loosing a half inch of water a day and the sand is being displaced. Do I need to drain it quick or wait until the water warms up and go scuba diving again??
