Siding material: Hardieplank vs crownboard

Posted by kkjyhs on January 21st, 2005 04:06 PM

I need new siding and have eliminated wood siding for cost and vinyl siding just because I don't like the way it looks. That brings me to Hardieplank and a material called Crownboard. Local installers say that Hardieplank is a good product if installed correctly; the crownboard guy says there are multiple lawsuits and that hardieplank is not a good product. Who to believe? Also, I have LP T1-11 on the side that seems to be in good shape, unlike the LP lap siding in front. I'm curious to know if there have been a glut of problems with LP T1-11. And any input you could provide on the crownboard vs hardieplank issue would be appreciated. Thanks.
