These are water pipes. I can see the pair (cold and hot water) coming off from the basement (approx. 6 inches apart from each other), and feeding to the mainfloor washroom, and then to the bedroom level. We, in Toronto, have forced air heating system, and there are no heating pipes (I dont know what you talking about).

As to When, it is a good question, cause thats where I am confused :
First, the banging sound comes (at the end of the flush) when the master bedroom toilet is flushed. It bangs once or twice thereafter, within a span of 5 minutes - sometimes its only the bang at the end of the flush.
Secondly, the banging sound comes, when we use the shower that it adjacent to the problem toilet, which I believe the cold water pipe is linked to the cold water pipe used by the shower. Aside from the hissing sound that the water pipes make, when the hot and cold water is used in the shower, there is NO banging of pipes, until 2-5 minutes AFTER the shower (hot and cold) is shut off. The banging continues, sometimes, for almost 1 to 1.5 hours, and is mainly coming from the ceiling and the wall where the pipes are traced from the shower/toilet going down to the basement area. The sound never ever comes in the basement, because I neatly clamped all the piped, to the beam. Similar sound used to come in the basement, and clamping the pipes every 1 to 2 feet really helped - So there is absolutely pin-drop silences whenever wate is run on the upper floors.
HOPE THIS HELPS UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM. Any HELP will be greatly appreciated, as I do not want to rip open the wall/ceiling, if I dont have to, but I am fedup of the noise.
