Furnace engineers are not idiots; they design gas units to use a certain amount of gas at specific pressures. Devices like this make the claim that they can reduce your bill by reducing the amount of gas your furnace burns or making your natural gas mix better than when it was mixed going several hundred miles around bends and turns in pipelines from the gas fields.

As most old furnaces were larger than needed, because mathematics is simply too much trouble to do a written estimate of heating needs, furnaces were installed using 'rules of thumb' which are just poor guesses. Reducing the gas flow to your furnace will lower the gas bill; however, the furnace was built and rated using what the factory recommended. Changing what is there voids any warrantees and alters the design and actulally increases bypass air making the flame less efficient, so it affects the insurance examination as well. You can spin and mix natural gas any way you want, it is still natural gas after it is spun and mixed, so when it comes out of the orifice to the manifold and is sprayed into the burner it is the same as before, except buying something to install in between costs you money. By buying a new furnace, you get a full warrantee and tested efficiency that will save you money; far more certain than a magic mixer that has never been tested by a government agency. If it did what it said, it would be in every gas furnace, as the design engineers are in constant competition to beat each other's designs.

Additional problems of reducing gas flow into the burner is not having the pressure to reach the burner so the flame burns ouside the chamber. Also there is not enough heat after reduction to maintain good draft and prevent chimney condensation. Best go with a factory nationally-tested furnace.

The Senate and House can not find a suitable health plan for the nation; they should open their own exclusive health plan booklet and start reading.
