I'm installing a new whirlpool tub in the space where my old cast iron tub was. The new whirlpool tub is a little wider than the old tub (32" vs. 30 1/4"). Therefore the trap needs to move over by an 1 1/2". Unfortunately there is a beam right where the new trap needs to be, exactly 16" from the side wall. Does the trap have to be directly under the drain of the new whirpool tub? I know that the overflow drain connections have to be, but I'm trying noot to move the trap below the floor by 1 1/2". Any suggestions?
