If you have to angle the Waste and Overflow so much that you need to use a 22 1/2" fitting to straighten it then, that's probably too much angle. However, there are plumbers who do it and they don't report problems and it isn't a code violation in my area.
There is 1 1/2" tubular size and the larger 1 1/2" pipe size. I presume you mean the pipe size. There are kits where you buy the fitting for the overflow, shoe and toe closer fitting. Is this what you are planning on using?
