simple way to remove

I had the same problem. I tried to remove the vinyl with the tools and with a chemical remover. Both were much to difficult to use. I ended up cutting the vinyl with a utility knife and pouring boiling water over the cut areas and letting it soak then scraping away. I was lucky because the sub-flooring was concrete and the vinyl was not glued very well. Once I got it started I was able to pull up large sections without soaking with the water. Hope this helps.
