bats

I moved into my first home and I have bats. The last time I had a bat was New Year's eve. I live in Indiana so it is cold and bats should be dormant, right? I have had 9 bats this season. I checked the attic and basement and do not see a colony but is there anything more I can do aside from the usual hiding in the bedroom with towels under the door and huddling with the childre until morning?
