Fridge defrosting problem?

** The temperatures are too warm in both the fridge and the freezer (52 and 22 degrees). The freezer frosted up in the back (more like snow than ice). I defrosted, but it seems to be starting to frost again. **

Sounds like there is a problem is the defrost system (assuming whatever model of fridge it is is a frost-free model).

Excessive frosting not caused by a defrost system failure could be caused by poorly sealing door gaskets, the light staying on when the doors are closed or an air leak elsewhere into the cabinet.

** Where do I start **

The page at the following link describes how a typical frost free refrigerator's defrost system works and some of the checks that can be made on its components.
