Insulate old basement wall - brick

Posted by barrybush on January 31st, 2005 10:57 AM

I would like to insulate a wall in my basement. I am not trying to finish it and make it a usable space, I just want my pipes to stop freezing. The house is over 100 years old and this part of the basement is brick. What should I use to ensure a tight seal from the cold without having to close it in with drywall? Are rolls of polyethylene fiberglass a good idea? What else do I need to keep the cold out?
