ducane furnace exhaust pipe freezing

Posted by hank123 on February 2nd, 2005 08:58 AM

I have a Ducane Furnance model CMPA075U3. I live in the North east where winter nights get real cold. This past year I had the exhaust fan replaced. That works great. The problem is now on real cold nights the exhuast pide leading from the top of the furnace going to the out side gets clogged with real fine ice.
When this happens the furnace can not exhaust lingering gas from what i guess would be the heat chamber?
At first I thought it was snow- knocked off and cleared the obstruction. I immediatly smelled a little gas coming out of the pipe, after a few seconds the furnace fan cleared the gas and fired and worked great all day. This however keeps happening. What is the fix?
