Lonny / Doug / Jasper - you guys all are wonderful. Just the fact that you all take time to read people's problems in itself is commendable, let alone the wealth of info you share.
Doug: I will follow on the info you provided, but kindly reply to the questions I asked in my 1st Feb. 03:14 pm pst marked "The EUREKA moment"
I agree that a combo of things are required to fix my problem, but reading one of your posts and the gut feeling I have, I strongly believe that strapping/securing the pipes in the wall/ceiling will resolve the major banging. This one post did mention EXACTLY the problem I have (banging starting only after 15 minutes or so), and the explanation was the hot water usage expands the pipe, and "15 minutes later" starts contracting and therfore moves in the strap and hits the studs. Also the knocking sound is escalted in winter time, when hot water usage goes high. What I dont understand is the toilet, which never uses hot water, is causing the knock also, towards the end of the flush which indicates I have cold water pipe problem too (as I have changed everything in the toilet - shut-off, fill valve).
Doug: I dont think we have water hammer arrestors / air chambers, or the like, as visual inspection of the entire system did not bring up with any of those - Would they be hidden in wall, knowing this is a fairly new house (4 years old).
I will soon start changing the sink faucets in the problem w/room and keep you posted.
I will soon be finishing the basement, after which my family room wher the problem pipes are passing through, will be un-used as we will be using the TV room in the basement - It is then that I intend to open the wall/ceiling, to secure the pipes.

...So much fur now.
