Home Depot vs General Contractor

I am not a do it yourselfer. I need to find someone and before I start scheduling estimate appointments, I am wondering if Home Depot's EXPO is more reasonable than a contractor. I know that EXPO has $700 fee if I DON'T use them. Any one have any ideas?
