The ICC (International Construction Code) IRC (International Residential Code) requires ventilation through the roof.
Section P3102.1 (IRC) states:
"STACK REQUIRED. Every building shall have a vent stack or a stack vent. Such stack shall run undiminished in size and as directly as possible from the building drain through to open air above the roof."
It is not LEGAL nor ACCEPTABLE to vent any house or building through the side under ICC/IRC...
