In reply to Replacing support beams by Linda Tillis on October 11th, 2002 09:01 AM [Go to top of thread]

My daughter and son in law purchased a house build in 1870 - they are in the process of replacing all the joists since the house has had alot of termite damage -

In doing this they found out that the front of the house appears not to be sitting on the foundation - How can they support this?

They were going to use gang lam LVL's for the joists and they would have to notch out the LVL's to sit on the stone wall which is in the basement -

They are concerned that the top floors of the house will not have the proper support -

ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS?

THANK YOU
