Place a level on the rafter tail, mark it plumb and cut. Do the same on the opposite end of the roof. Streach a chalk line from one end to the other and snap a mark on all the rafters in between. Place an adjustable bevel on the cut rafter to determine the proper angle of cut. Mark and cut the subsequent rafter tails.
