Aluminum wiring is perfectly safe if the following is adhered too. Check all wiring devices (switches, recepticles, etc). They should have stamped on them "CU_AL" or "AL-CU". this means the device is specially designed for AL/copper wire. If you use a non-AL/CU device the screw connecting the AL wire will be subject to heating and loosening (creating a potential fire hazard.) The second solution (if all your devices are non-ALCU) would be to put a copper wire pigtail (about 6"long) on the device and connect the pigtail to the AL wire with a wire nut(should be the type with a coiled wire inside-not the 100% plastic type.) The Al paste compound is no longer required when using this proceedure. Good luck, -b-
