Tom thanks for the info. I took the wires apart and touched them together and could see smoke so I disconnected the wires and reversed the hot from black to white and neutral from white to black. There is no heat now and the dishwasher appears to be operating correctly. My only quwstion is the dishwasher waas operating for three years as originally wired and to have this problem now appears strange???
