Hi Raynman, a few pieces of info:
When using granite tiles instead of a slab for a countertop, typically you will want to butt the pieces together, but you DO still grout the seams.
Be sure to get unsanded grout (not sanded) and mix it fairly thin and "soupy". This will allow you to force enough grout into the seam to close it up.
Also, you should seal the entire surface, with a natural stone sealer, after the grout is fully cured.
If the sealer you select is solvent-based, allow at least a week for the grout to dry fully. If your sealer is water-based, one or two days of curing time should be sufficient, although dry time will be affected by temperature and humidity.
Two or three thin coats of sealer, with plenty of drying time allowed between coats, is better than one heavy application.
