The subfloor in my bathroom, between the corner of the tub and toilet is badly rotten. I have gone under the house and can see the wood has been wet and actually goes under the tub a bit as well. It's a small bathroom, but don't think the whole floor needs to be replaced. My DIY questions: Can I cut out the rotten pieces between the joists and lay new plywood to match the thickness of the rest of the floor? Would I need to put supports (2x4's) in between the joists where I have put new wood? What about the piece that goes under the tub? Can I remove part of this without removing the tub and support with 2x4's? Would I use wood screws? BTW, the leak was in the drain line of the tub and has been repaired. I will likely need to remove the toilet as well. First major project and any advice is APPRECIATED! Thanks in advance.
