That is a Whirlpool built 'direct drive' washer design.

BTW. By "spin" I'm referring to rotating of the tub not just "draining" of the water (which can happen even if it wasn't spinning).
If it didn't spin as well, it would indicate a common and fairly simple problem to correct. Since it is definitely spinning, it is going to be more difficult to get to the cause.
