Mold/Mildew on Stippled ceiling

Our bedroom ceiling is stippled. In one corner of our room, mildew has formed on the stipple. We have tried to remove it with the Javex mixure and it removes some of the mildew but it also removes the stipple. How can we get rid of this problem?
