My husband and I would like to stain the cedar shakes on our home but it is 45 years old and in the past two years we have added new shakes to an extension of our house and around a number of windows. Will the fact that these shingles are not the same age affect the color of the stain or should we just paint to ensure the same color? Thanks in advance.
