Same basic procedure as installing a 120V line. You need the extra capacity in your box. You need two blanks opposite each other in your panel box. The 220 V breaker is a double wide and simply hits both of your mains. You need to know if you need 4 wire or 3 wire cable. i.e. an electric dryer uses the 4 wires and an air conditioner uses the 3 wires. You need to know if you need single phase or 3 phase so you run the right cable and install the right breaker. You should be able to find a tutorial online or at your library.
