Hi! I've got a problem. The local hardware store sold me a mildecide to put in my interior paint they told me to just mix it in with my gallon I proceeded to paint the bathroom bedroom and hall. It smelled horrible. The next morning I woke with a dry burning cough. Several days later while cleaning up I discovered they had sold me an exterior midecide I called them they said it was OK the fumes would go away soon. I decided to call the # on the bottle the company chemist told me No its not OK it needs to be removed by stripping off or replacing the wallboard the fumes will continue to be in your house the product has even been discontinued.. I called back the hardware store they didn't believe me and called the company they called me back within the hour said yes I was right and they had put in a claim with there insurance company. The insurance company has called and told me to get estimates for stripping the painters I have talked to so far have said replacement would be cheaper we live in a small town does anyone know of a product that could safely remove paint from drywall it is old drywall and has several layers of paint. The bathroom has handpainted by my daughter tropical fish and turtles etc.. that I really love. what the hey the estimate by 1 painter for redrywall was between 5 and 8 thousand the insurance company has said they may not pay 100% I feel its there fault they are the experts. HELP!!!!
