sliding attic stairs

Have old sliding attic stairs & the slide channel on one side has split & come off track.
Appears it can be repaired by gluing the split section if I knew how to pull the stairs off & more importantly put it back on. Or could possibly repair it without having to pull it off, if I knew how to get it back on the track.
