pealed paint on masonite siding

Didn't Bob Vila have a show on national
TV about leveling off the pealed paint
rough spots on exterior siding? Does
anyone know what type of filler or
sealant this was and if it really works?
I have a build up of old paint on a
get-a-way cabin with pealed paint. Some
areas seem to be virtually impossible to
get level.
