soffits

I need to replace some soffits on my house. I have a stucco exterior. The soofits on my house are 1x6's. About 1/2 inch of the soffit goes into the wall just above the stucco. Thay are also atached to the rafters. I'm wonder if they may are also stuccoed into the walls. Would like some help on this. What are some be ways I reattach new piesces?
