Another voice crying in the wilderness about reglazing tile ... Posted by Tapirfrog on May 6th, 2005 01:03 PM
Yes, first-time poster here; I've searched the forums. Many many people have asked "How do I reglaze tubs/tiles/etc?" with few answers and often as not the answers conflict. So, once more with feeling: have you ever used a DIY reglazing kit?
I'm asking because I'm thinking of reglazing a tile countertop in the kitchen. The tiles are fine -- no cracks, no chips. They're just ugly as a goat's butt. I'd cut out the old grout, reglaze the tiles, regrout, and seal the new grout.
So ...
-- Have you ever used a DIY kit?
-- What were the results?
-- Is my plan of regrouting after reglazing going to work, or will the new glaze keep the new grout from holding?
No, I don't want to glaze the grout the same color as the tile. In the one example of DIY reglazing I've actually seen, it looked like ... DIY reglazing. And it was because the finish went over the grout as well as the tiles.
I pinky-swear that if I get the courage to try this, I'll report back. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
