.....Some water stains are "transparent" and disappear when a new surface finish is applied.......
......Others are opaque and the surface and stain needs removal....
The applied water is a simple way to approximate the effect of a new finish......Some stains darken up.....others lighten......colors change........you don't want to refinish the whole wall just touch up the finish matching the existing patina ?
