I read a lot of different ways on here, but not sure if the way that worked was ever mentioned for my particular garage door opener.
I had to:
Remove keypad from wall
Replace 9 volt battery
Take keypad with me to back of garage door opener unit.
Key in new password on keypad and hold down the enter key
At the same time as holding the enter key, I had to press the RED button on the back of the garage door unit itself. Once the light blinked I was able to release button
Keyed in new password and hit enter and it works the door finally.
