Mid Atlantic States Now Ban Oil-Based Paint

Went to my favorite paint dealer today for some interior oil-based enamel.

I was told oil based-enamel is now banned for sale and use in Virginia, maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York.

Has to do with VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) that oil paints release and their effect on the ozone layer.

Ban went into effect January 1, 2005.

I was stunned but am apparantly not alone:
