My question is in regard to my gravel driveway. I just bought this new house and it has about a 100' long gravel drive which a slight slope near the bottom where it meets the curb/street. After a heavy rain, the sloping part of the drive is filled with trenches, and quite a bit of gravel washes out down into the street. I'm repeatedly having to shovel the gravel back up into the driveway, and rake it level. I'm afraid the gravel is just a little too "light" to withstand the water runoff in a heavy downpour. I could consider bringing in some heavier stone for that part of the driveway. However, I'm wondering if it would work to possibly mix a little cement in with the gravel, add some water and rake it good to somehow develop a more solid gravel drive which will withstand the heavy rains, and not wash out so easily - maybe the water will run over, rather than through it. Will this work? Is it advisable? Is there a better way? If I do use cement, is there a certai! n formula or amount I should use?
