painting over wallpaper

YES! It can be done, but obviously is not the ideal situation... My house is over 100 yrs old, with lathe and plaster walls. Somebody wallpapered with extra strength glue or something because it WILL NOT come off. Hiring a plasterer is out of the question. :0( I treated it as a taped drywall seam, primed it with a quality primer and painted. That was three years ago and it looks great.
